# TeXise R14.28.20 Build Fix 47 — Navigable Template Directory

Build Fix 47 converts `/templates` from a single filter-heavy grid into an intent-first academic template directory inspired by the strongest navigation ideas in contemporary LaTeX template libraries while retaining TeXise's richer provenance, compiler, institution and Free/Pro metadata.

## Seed catalog

The release contains the original eight template packages plus 28 clearly labelled `— Demo` template packages, for 36 published templates total. The demonstration data covers 10 academic institutions in Australia, the United States, United Kingdom and Switzerland, multiple degree levels, Free and Pro tiers, and research/document categories including theses, reports, proposals, grants, journal articles, posters, lab documents, assignments and preprints.

Every seeded institution template is explicitly TeXise-created, carries a demo attribution, states that no institutional endorsement is implied, and is marked `noIndex`. Demo-only institution collection pages are also served `noindex,follow` and excluded from the sitemap until they contain at least one verified/indexable production template. The seeds exist to exercise navigation before verified production template packages are imported; they are not presented as official university templates.

## Template directory UX

The main template page now provides:

- dominant semantic search for template, university, journal/conference, compiler and research metadata;
- popular intent chips;
- a prominent `Templates by university` section with institution, country/region and live template counts;
- a document-type directory with live counts and curated category descriptions;
- a Recently Verified section;
- an All Templates browser with restrained primary filters and expandable technical filters;
- transparent sorting by verification date, update date or A–Z;
- Quick Preview without leaving the catalog;
- Free/Pro and technical metadata visible on cards;
- an import/start-blank fallback when the needed template is absent.

## Institution UX

`/templates/institutions` now supports search and country grouping. Institution aliases are exposed to the client so common names such as `UNSW`, `University of NSW`, and `University of New South Wales` resolve naturally. Individual institution pages expose template count, latest verification date, degree-level filtering and an explicit provenance warning.

## Category SEO

Document categories have first-class canonical routes such as:

`/templates/categories/theses-and-dissertations`

These are server-rendered as indexable `CollectionPage` entities, included in the XML sitemap, and use the same generated template manifest as the UI. Arbitrary faceted combinations on `/templates?...` remain `noindex,follow` to avoid search-index duplication.

## Preview behavior

BF46 preview behavior is preserved. Catalog cards use lightweight image thumbnails where available. Quick Preview and detail pages can show uploaded previews or automatic `template.pdf` / `main.pdf` fallback. Raw Free/Pro source trees remain outside the public dist catalog and are delivered only through the protected API contract.
