# R14.28.20 Build Fix 50 — Public Site Redesign

Build Fix 50 preserves the BF49 editor, template and Projects recovery while replacing the public marketing information architecture with a shorter research-software presentation.

## Public information architecture

The homepage now renders, in order: Hero, the existing interactive product/editor preview, short differentiators, six Power Features, TeXise vs Overleaf, shared Pricing, FAQ and the compact final CTA. The previous long workflow/editor/local-first/reproducibility/research-AI/lifecycle/capability marketing blocks are no longer rendered.

`/features` is a first-class client, server-rendered SEO and sitemap route. Features replaces Use Cases in desktop/mobile public navigation. `/use-cases` and every existing use-case child route remain public and are linked from Footer → Product.

## Pricing and entitlement truth

Home and `/pricing` consume one canonical three-plan model:

- Free — $0 forever.
- Pro Lifetime — $29 one-time, Most Popular, Standard support.
- Pro — $5/month, Priority support.

Free retains unlimited projects, local compiles, Local AI, free templates, version history/Git, collaboration joining and the local terminal. Starting collaboration, Paper Memory, BYOK/cloud AI, AI Paper Review, Pro templates, TexLab and clean PDF export remain Pro capabilities.

Paper Memory is now enforced through `research.paper-memory` in `ProjectEntitlementService`, including its service boundary. Existing browser-local research data is not deleted when the capability is unavailable.

The public monthly checkout has a separate optional `TEXISE_PRO_MONTHLY_SHOP` configuration. Lifetime continues to use the existing `TEXISE_SHOP` path. A missing monthly checkout never redirects to the Lifetime product accidentally.

## Free PDF watermark policy

Clean PDF export is represented by the `export.pdf.clean` capability. Pro downloads the original compiled bytes. Free download renders the already-compiled document with PDF.js, overlays `TeXise · Free`, and emits a separate raster PDF. This never edits the canonical `.tex` source, compile input, live PDF preview or SyncTeX data.

Because the source package has no additional PDF-writing dependency, the Free watermarked export is rasterized. Text selection/search inside the exported Free PDF is therefore not preserved. The Pro PDF remains the original vector/text PDF.

## Compatibility

The BF33–BF49 source guards accept BF50 as a preserving release. BF50 rotates the installer source guard, app-shell cache identity and collaboration release diagnostic while retaining TX7.2.3.

Focused dependency-free coverage is in `scripts/buildfix50-public-site-redesign-regression.test.mjs` and the BF50 source guard in `scripts/repair-buildfix50-source.mjs`.
